Surgutneftegas to keep exploratory drilling flat in near future

SURGUT, Jun 29 (PRIME) -- Russian oil and gas company Surgutneftegas plans to keep exploratory drilling flat in the near future at 200,000–210,000 meters of rock formations per year, Deputy Chief Geologist Igor Cheryakov said on Friday during an annual general meeting of the company’s shareholders.

“We plan no reduction of geological exploration works in the coming years, but it will depend on purchases of new license sites. Speaking of exploratory drilling, we plan that at the level of 200,000–210,000 meters of rock formation, but it will also depend on the purchases of new license sites,” he said.

Deputy Chief Geologist Vladislav Bairamov said that a wide range of geological measures, including hydraulic fracturing, ensures annual increases of the number of operating wells. He said that oil production at the Uvat group of fields should amount to 2 million tonnes in 2020, and would reach the projected capacity of 2.5 million tonnes of oil after 2024.

“We plan to launch three fields of the Yugansk group in the south of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District in the next three to four years,” Bairamov said.
